About

Hi All! My name is Sal. Here are some things you should know about me:

  1. I have a PhD in earth sciences and am an assistant professor at a state university in the upper Midwest.
  2. I’m married to my high school sweetheart-we’ve been together almost 20 years (married for 11).
  3. I have a daughter who’s four and another who’s two.
  4. I also have two female pups (what can I say, my husband’s destined to be hanging out with females)!
  5. I love to run long distances. The longer, the better. I’ve done 6 marathons, 3 50Ks, and am hoping to do my first 50-miler in 2019.
  6. I hope to one day run a marathon (plus) in every US state.
  7. I love to cook and bake (running partly fuels my intense desire to cook and consume baked goods).
  8. I have a whole host of mental health issues (depression, anxiety, PTSD, and an eating disorder) that I manage on a daily basis. It’s a constant struggle, but I’ve found that being open about my challenges is beneficial to both myself and those around me.
  9. I’m a complete book hoarder, from textbooks to novels to poetry compilations. I can’t get enough of them.
  10. On any given day life is wonderful and overwhelming and always interesting. This space is to document my adventures in maintaining (or pretending at least!) some sort of equilibrium in this crazy, awesome life.

Cheers!

Sal
